Hurricane Irma & Maria October 2017
Many islands in the Caribbean were devastated by landfall and/or near landfall of Hurricane Irma and Maria. Because of my Sint Maarten/Saint-Martin Dutch/French Caribbean origins and scientific background. At the same time I was researching the topic "Macro-Economic Implications of Increase Re-occurrence, Intensity and Duration of Hurricanes in the Caribbean Due to Climate Change".

ZineQx Development
In the weeks, months and years following my research I was very busy translating what I written into a cloud application that would be accessible worldwide especially to those who are exposed to natural, man made and particularly hydro-meteorological disasters (hurricane, flooding even droughts, heat waves and earthquakes).

During my research and development of ZineQx I realized that to help those exposed to the effect of Climate Change would have to make extensive use of online resources that I would make available as part of ZineQx Integrated Assessment Framework under the umbrella of the company that I founded, Infinite Observations.

Mission

Infinite Observations specializes in the development of digital online solutions that incorporates GeoICT, Big Data, Data Analysis, Data Science, Advance Analytics, Machine Learning to aid Civil & Structural Engineering, Flood Risk Management, Disaster Risk Reduction  and Prevention to mitigate the effects of global warming, sea level rise and ultimately Climate Change. The aim of Infinite Observations is to develop and promote digital tools in the ZineQx online integrated natural disaster assessment framework or platform that reduces the effect of the most important channels through which a natural exogenous shock affects macro-economies worldwide, in the short, medium and long term. Increase development and wealth have significant economic, political, social and environmental implications with respects to the increase losses as a consequence of, specifically, hydro-meteorological, pandemics and other types of disasters. Climate change, which is in essence human-induced (as opposed to natural, i.e. meteorite strikes and volcanic eruptions) climate variability that affects the many climate cycles, climate variations, climate trends, and climate extremes that have occurred annually, decadally as well as on the scales of centennials and millennia, is also disadvantageous to the agricultural sector, as a result of soil erosion and in turn crop loss and thus increases in food import while threatening the livelihoods of many inhabitants and aggravate poverty that could ultimately lead to health and sanitary issues globally. The effects of (natural) disaster are never positive. However, technological changes prior to, during and in the aftermath of an extreme whether-related catastrophes could lead to important advances in sustainable development, renewable energy sources and the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Governments (of small island developing states in particular) must become more pro-active with regard to climate change and crises policies in order to strengthen the capacity of their institutions and societies through adaptation and mitigation initiatives thus improving the quality of life of their populations. Infinite Observations’s ZineQx platform is in essence a macro-economic multi-country dynamic panel data framework presents a platform to shape natural disaster policy making, through systematical examination of different political, socio-economic, etc., pathways. A key contribution employed in Infinite Observations’s ZineQx platform is the structured methodical approach, which is the result of a combination of hurricane and environmental engineering, relatively new and emerging specialist sub-disciplines of civil and structural engineering and economics, that encompasses architecture, planning, vulnerability analyses, climatology, oceanography, design, monitoring, policy and decision making, emergency risk management and preparedness, the natural and built environment, response, rehabilitation and recovery with the aim of minimizing risks to various equity entities (structural and non-structural) for various hazards.

Infinite Observations is organized with the focus on obtaining results for our clients.
